Sheffield United beat Watford 2-0 at Vicarage Road to climb from 17th to 12th in the Championship.
In the 50th minute Patrick Bamford broke the deadlock, finishing from the centre of the box after the restart put the visitors on the front foot. Bamford then turned in Femi Seriki's cross (59.) to give the Blades a two-goal cushion.
Adam Davies was solid as the Blades closed the game out, making three saves as the back line posted 42 clearances. The Hornets saw more of the ball at 53.7% and tallied 14 attempts, but only three tested Davies.
After the hour the Blades introduced Tahith Chong, while the Hornets turned to Giorgi Chakvetadze and Amin Nabizada, yet Bamford's second had already set the tone for a controlled away display.
Eight minutes of second half stoppage time were indicated, but the Blades managed the closing stages without alarm.
The result leaves the Hornets 13th. Next, the Hornets visit West Bromwich Albion. The Blades host Blackburn Rovers next.
