Invisible during the Clasico defeat to Real Madrid (2-1), Lamine Yamal never seemed himself. The young FC Barcelona forward, usually a big-game phenomenon, looked unrecognizable at the Santiago Bernabéu. The culprit: persistent groin pain, reported for several weeks now, which is hampering his performance and deeply worrying the Blaugrana medical staff.

According to Spanish doctor Pedro Luis Ripoll, interviewed by La Cadena Ser, the player’s condition is anything but reassuring.

“This injury is characterized by pain that reduces a player’s ability to move and shoot by 50%,” he explained.

A grim diagnosis for the 2025 Ballon d’Or runner-up, who has been forced to limit his sprints and shots. Against Real, Yamal failed to produce a single decisive run—a rarity for him.

The physician also highlighted the complexity of this condition.

“Groin injuries are difficult to treat. They don’t always prevent you from playing, but they significantly hinder performance.”

This warning rings out as an alarm bell for Barça, already weakened by numerous injuries. If the Catalan club wants to safeguard the future of its prodigy, it will need to consider granting him real rest—or risk making a situation worse that could jeopardize the rest of his season.
