La Liga giants Barcelona have early this week given the green light to a high-profile exit from the club’s first-team ranks.

This comes amid confirmation of Marc-André ter Stegen preparing to link up with Catalan rivals Girona.

It has of course long been common knowledge that goalkeeper Ter Stegen would be on the move before the month is out.

Sitting third in the pecking order between the posts in Hansi Flick’s Barca squad, the German was left with no choice but to seek out playing time elsewhere, to secure for himself a place in his country’s World Cup squad this summer.

The aforementioned Girona, on the lookout for reinforcements in goal, had in turn long been expressing an interest in a deal for Ter Stegen.

And as alluded to above, on Monday, confirmation of as much being found has arrived.

As per a report from market insider Fabrizio Romano:

‘Girona verbally agree loan deal with Barcelona to sign Marc André ter Stegen, here we go! After MATS green light last week, the two clubs also agreed in principle on loan move until the end of the season.’
