Barcelona and Girona set to enter into talks over three players this summer | OneFootball

Barcelona are in for a busy summer transfer window as they attempt to rectify the faults of last season.

While the Blaugranes await their return to the 1:1 rule in La Liga, they are simultaneously carrying out negotiations with other clubs.

And talks with Girona are expected to occur frequently over the course of the campaign, as the two Catalan sides share many mutual issues to discuss.

The three players of interest

Indeed, according to AS, there will be three names on the table: Oriol Romeu, Eric Garcia, and Pau Victor.

Pau Victor, the leading scorer for Barcelona Atletic this past season, was a Girona player on loan and is returning to his parent club.

However, after Marc Guiu’s transfer to Chelsea, Barcelona are short on options in the centre-forward position and are thus interested in retaining Victor’s services.

Barcelona had the option to secure Victor permanently by paying €3 million, but they failed to activate it before it expired on April 1, leaving him with Girona for now.

Should Barça look to extend Eric Garcia’s loan at the Montilivi, Victor might enter the negotiations.

Flick prefers Garcia to stay at Barcelona, but his Olympic Games commitment complicates pre-season plans.

Departures in the defensive line could strengthen Garcia’s chances of returning to Barcelona; otherwise, he could enter a trade deal with Pau Victor.

Finally, the case of Oriol Romeu is also an area of interest. Romeu, who joined Barcelona last summer for €3 million, has struggled to secure a regular place in the team.

Girona’s coach Michel has expressed interest in bringing back the veteran midfielder, given that he played an important role for the club before departing.

Barcelona, for their part, are eager to dispose of Romeu following his average season and the midfielder could also enter a player-exchange with Pau Victor if not Garcia.

It remains to be seen how the Catalan sides find a solution that satisfies all parties in this three-way negotiation.
