Milan have intensified their pursuit of Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka, establishing new contacts as they look to secure the German midfielder on a free transfer this summer.
According to Daniele Longo, the Rossoneri board and sporting director Igli Tare have held fresh discussions with the 31-year-old’s representatives. Goretzka’s contract is set to expire in July, and Milan view him as the perfect candidate for a Modric-style move.
However, the path to the Bundesliga star is far from clear. Milan face stiff competition from the Premier League and La Liga, with Tottenham and Barcelona both having already moved to gather information on the midfielder’s situation. Spurs have, in fact, been the first to make contact.
While the financial demands of such a high-profile free agent remain a hurdle, Milan believe the project under Massimiliano Allegri could entice Goretzka. The player has expressed his appreciation for the interest, marking a positive first step in what is expected to be a highly contested race for his signature.
