Lamine Yamal is truly an anomaly of football, for it is extraordinary how he is already being held up to the standards of the best in the world.

Still just a teenager, he is firmly in the debate to be the best player in the world, especially because he brings not only goals but also the profile of an elite chance creator.

Further, his performances this season have shown a conspicuous improvement in terms of the end product, as he is averaging close to double the goal contributions as he did last season.

Yamal is not yet at his peak

The young phenom spoke to Mundo Deportivo during their gala last night, where he was also awarded the Mundo Deportivo Trophy for a spectacular 2025.

When asked if he felt he was at his ceiling or there were still higher gears to shift to, Yamal was confident that his best version is yet to come.

“My best moment this season? Now the best is yet to come! The important thing is coming.”

He then spoke on how he only dreamt of staying at Barcelona his entire career and how the thought of leaving never crossed, and will never cross his mind.

“I hope to be able to stay at Barça my whole life.”

Finally, he commented on the important clash against Albacete on Tuesday night and how a lot is on the line for the Copa del Rey defending champions.

“Tomorrow is a very important day. We’re going after a place in the Copa semifinals, a trophy we have to win.”

It remains to be seen if Hansi Flick opts to start Yamal against Albacete or hands Roony Bardghji the start to give the Spaniard rest.

What remains clear, however, is that he will definitely have some involvement on the night.
