Even as Marc-Andre ter Stegen continues his recovery after undergoing back surgery during the summer, his future at FC Barcelona continues to be a major topic of discussion.
After all, Joan Garcia has now become the preferred starter in goal for Hansi Flick, meaning the German international will have to settle for a reduced role when he returns.
However, that would hamper Ter Stegen’s World Cup ambitions as he wishes to be Germany’s No. 1 in the mega tournament next year.
As such, the possibility of a January exit, on loan, is no longer ruled out, and there is already interest in the Barcelona captain.
Now, according to reports in England, as relayed by Mundo Deportivo, Ter Stegen has been offered to a number of English clubs – including Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham United.
The 33-year-old goalkeeper is expected to return to action in December and is said to be open to a temporary move in order to secure regular playing time ahead of next summer’s World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Aware that his opportunities at Barça could be limited upon recovery, Ter Stegen’s representatives are already exploring possible destinations, and have offered him to clubs in England.
Reports of interest from Manchester United and Tottenham had been doing the rounds in the past as well, while Chelsea could explore a reinforcement in goal amid question marks over Robert Sanchez. West Ham, too, have been offered the German international’s services.
Given his high salary and the fact that he will be coming back from injury, a loan deal is seen as the most feasible option, although it remains to be seen whether any of the interested clubs would include a purchase option in the agreement.
For now, it appears that Ter Stegen has accepted his fate and is considering leaving Barcelona in January in order to secure his No. 1 spot for Germany at the World Cup.
