Barcelona considering Serie A side for preseason friendly in Italy | OneFootball

FC Barcelona are going to recall their players for the start of the preseason training on 13th July. On that date, players, who are not participating in the World Cup, would be back at the Ciutat Esportiva to undergo fitness tests and start training for the next season.

A few days after that, the team is scheduled to travel to the United Kingdom, where they will hold a training camp, and also play two friendlies, against second division sides.

After that, their plans for the preseason friendlies are yet to be finalized. However, according to a report from SPORT, one option that they are considering is that of playing one of these friendlies in Italy, against the Serie A side Udinese. This match is expected to be played at the beginning of August.

The Catalans do not want their team to undertake a lot of trips during the preseason in order to remain fresh for the start of the proper season. Thus, Italy appears to be a particularly suitable destination for them, as it is not too far from Spain or England.

As things stand, this is a plan still only being considered, and there are no agreements in place regarding it for now. Meanwhile, the club continues to assess its options before making a final decision in this regard.

This final decision can be made next Tuesday, when a meeting of the board of directors of the club is scheduled, mainly to finalize the opponents for this year’s Joan Gamper Trophy. This Joan Gamper match is set to be played on 19th August, and as things stand, there are currently four teams being considered as potential participants in this.

The choice of the preseason friendlies and the Joan Gamper opponents would be particularly interesting to Barcelona fans, as they would get to see their team, especially the new players, like Anthony Gordon, in action before the next season starts.
