FC Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen has fully ruptured the patella tendon in his right knee during Sunday’s 5-1 victory over Villarreal in La Liga. While a PSG player was initially linked as a possible replacement, reports suggest the Catalan club is leaning toward signing a free agent instead.

According to ESPN, the German goalkeeper will be sidelined for several months and likely miss the rest of the season. In response, Barcelona’s management is set to hold emergency talks this week to explore signing a free-agent goalkeeper to fill the void left by Ter Stegen.

SPORT reports that former La Masia standout and current PSG goalkeeper Arnau Tenas could be a player Barcelona looks at during the January transfer window.

Since joining PSG as a free agent, the Spaniard has struggled for game time, with Gianluigi Donnarumma firmly holding the starting spot.

Nonetheless, the Spanish media outlet also reveals that Barcelona has set its sights on Wojciech Szczęsny. However, the goalkeeper needs to resolve his contractual situation before anything can move forward.

A clause in his retirement agreement stipulates that any future club must compensate Juventus, which could complicate the deal.

Former PSG standout Keylor Navas reportedly offered his services to Barcelona, but it seems the Catalan side aren’t taking it into consideration for now.
