Heading into the summer of 2025, FC Barcelona are weighing up the possibility of signing a top centre-forward to take over from Robert Lewandowski as the main No. 9 at the club.

With the club being back to the 1:1 rule, there is scope for a big move in the summer. And two names in particular – Erling Haaland and Viktor Gyokeres – have emerged as the preferred targets for the Blaugrana sporting management.

However, signing either player will not be easy as a move for Haaland could cost around €200 million while he would demand a hefty contract as well.

As for Gyokeres, he could be available for a more affordable price, but the competition for his services seems to be growing rapidly.

Real Madrid, Man United, City all want Gyokeres

As reported by Sky Sport Germany, Barcelona are not the only European elite interested in the services of Viktor Gyokeres.

Premier League champions Manchester City and their local rivals Manchester United are both tracking the 26-year-old Sporting CP striker.

Moreover, Barça’s arch-enemies Real Madrid are also keeping tabs on the centre-forward along with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

It is no secret that Gyokeres’ stock has gone through the roof over the past season and a half. The Swedish international has emerged as one of the most prolific goalscorers in Europe and has already found the back of the net 30 times this season in 28 matches.

Given his exceptional return, it is not surprising that a plethora of top teams are interested in signing the forward, including Barcelona.

However, the emergence of interest from other clubs such as Manchester United, who have hired former Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim, Real Madrid, and Manchester City could pose a challenge for the Catalan heavyweights.

The report suggests that Gyokeres could be available for a fee of around €60-70 million come summer of 2025. What remains to be seen is whether Barcelona decide to go after him or opt to count on Lewandowski for one more season.
