FC Barcelona Femeni have once again stamped their authority on European football, defeating Chelsea women 4-1 in the second leg of the semi-finals to secure their place in a fifth consecutive UEFA Women’s Champions League final.
With an emphatic 8-2 aggregate victory, Barça Femeni continue their reign as the standard-bearers of women’s football.
The Blaugrana’s journey over the last seven seasons has been nothing short of historic. Since the 2018-19 campaign, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have reached the final six times, missing out only during the Covid-affected 2019-20 season, when they fell to Wolfsburg in the semi-final.
Their latest qualification highlights a period of almost complete European domination, where talking about the Champions League inevitably means talking about FC Barcelona Femeni.
On May 24 in Lisbon, Barça Femeni will play for their fourth European crown, and third in a row, as they chase down the record set by Olympique Lyonnais. Lyon’s eight titles remains the benchmark, but year after year, the gap narrows, and Barça’s grip on the competition tightens.
Matching another Lyon record, Barcelona have now reached five consecutive finals, a feat previously only achieved by the French giants between 2016 and 2020. It’s a testament to the consistency, depth, and excellence that Barcelona have brought to the European stage season after season.

The semi-final tie against Chelsea underlined their supremacy. After a dominant 4-1 win at Estadi Johan Cruyff, Barça delivered another clinical performance at Stamford Bridge.
Goals from Aitana Bonmatí, Ewa Pajor, Claudia Pina, and Salma Paralluelo overwhelmed the English champions, with Wieke Kaptein’s goal providing only brief respite for Chelsea.
Over the two legs, Barça’s +6 goal difference ranks as one of the largest margins in recent UEFA Women’s Champions League history, behind only Lyon’s 7-0 dismantling of PSG in 2015-16 and Frankfurt’s 13-0 thrashing of Brøndby in 2012-13.
As the final approaches, Barcelona Femeni now set their sights on lifting yet another Champions League trophy. Their dominance is no longer just about winning — it’s about defining an era. In today’s women’s football landscape, FC Barcelona are not just participants; they are the gold standard.
