Former Real Madrid team doctor Niko Mihic has recently raised eyebrows with his remarks on Barcelona players and their tradition of wearing wrist wraps.

He took a swipe at Barcelona players like Robert Lewandowski, Gavi, Raphinha, Frenkie de Jong, Lamine Yamal, and Pau Víctor, who’ve all been spotted rocking wrist wraps on the field this season.

Mihic said, “It could be that they’re designing strategy games, playing a lot of football and getting tendinitis. In the same way that it could be that they haven’t bribed Negreira.

“I don’t know what’s going on, but what I mean is that any doctor knows that, if you want easier venous access, it’s in the hands and wrists,” he added.

Now, Barcelona’s young forward Pau Victor, who’s been wrapping his right wrist since his Girona youth academy days, has hit back.

The 23-year-old, on X, posted three laughing emojis in response to Mihic’s jabs, playfully dismissing the insinuations.

Whether the wrist bandages are for superstition, old injuries, or just a quirk, they haven’t held back the Blaugrana, who are thriving this season.

The Catalans have already sealed the Copa Del Rey trophy by beating Real Madrid. They are also on their way to win La Liga, provided they can maintain their momentum going into the final phase of the campaign.

Barcelona’s immediate focus, though, will be on tonight’s UEFA Champions League encounter against Inter Milan.

The Italian giants are coming on the back of a poor run of form, but anything can happen in such a high-stakes clash, especially given the way the team has defended this season.
