Ferran Torres’ future at FC Barcelona is no longer leaning in one clear direction. After appearing increasingly likely to leave the club earlier this summer, the situation has shifted significantly.

According to SPORT journalist David Bernabeu, the chances of Ferran staying or leaving are now “50-50,” with the final decision resting entirely in the hands of the Spanish international.

Barcelona won’t force him out

Despite growing interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona have no intention of forcing Ferran towards the exit.

The club continue to value the forward as an important member of Hansi Flick’s squad and will not ask him to find another club. If Ferran decides he wants to remain at Camp Nou, the Catalans are happy for him to continue as part of the project.

However, should the player inform the club that he wishes to leave, Barcelona would be prepared to negotiate a transfer.

With just one year remaining on his contract, any potential deal would likely be valued at around €40-45 million.

Contract talks the key issue

The biggest obstacle continues to be Ferran’s proposed contract renewal. Barcelona are expected to formally present an extension offer on September 1 for Financial Fair Play reasons.

But, as per the report, the current proposal put together has yet to convince the player. Ferran believes his performances over the past two seasons merit improved terms, although there is no suggestion that his relationship with the club has deteriorated.

On the contrary, he remains extremely comfortable within the dressing room, where he has become one of the group’s respected figures and maintains a particularly close friendship with Pedri.

Barça’s next move could shape decision

Barcelona’s pursuit of a new centre-forward is another major factor influencing Ferran’s future.

The Spain international wants to understand how the club plans to strengthen its attack before making a final decision.

If Barcelona continue to view him as an important part of Flick’s plans and improve their renewal offer, the chances of him staying could increase considerably.

However, the arrival of a marquee striker such as Julian Alvarez would inevitably reduce his expected role and could make a departure a more attractive option.

For now, Ferran’s future remains finely balanced, with both Barcelona and PSG awaiting the decision that only the player himself can make.
