Although he has not consistently hit his peak level this season, Alejandro Balde remains a central figure in FC Barcelona coach Hansi Flick’s plans and continues to enjoy the club’s full trust.
The 22-year-old left back has already featured in 32 official matches this campaign, highlighting his importance within the current project. However, his uneven performances have attracted attention beyond Spain.
According to SPORT, both Inter Milan and Manchester United are closely monitoring Balde’s situation and are weighing up the possibility of submitting an offer next summer.
Balde is valued at around €60 million by Transfermarkt, which means any approach would need to be substantial for Barcelona to even consider talks. The club is well protected, with the defender under contract until 2028 and tied down by a release clause of €1 billion.
Despite recent criticism, Flick has publicly supported Balde and even backed his case for a call-up to the Spanish national team. At the same time, the coaching staff acknowledges that his form has dipped, reflecting the broader inconsistency shown by the squad in recent weeks.
That downturn was particularly evident in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final against Atletico Madrid, where Balde struggled defensively and was outplayed by Giuliano Simeone, with Barcelona suffering a heavy 4-0 defeat.
In the following league match away to Girona, Flick opted to start Gerard Martin, who offered greater defensive solidity. Balde was introduced in the second half to provide attacking impetus as Barcelona chased a win to stay top of La Liga, a position they later surrendered to Real Madrid.
Inter’s interest is linked to their aim of reinforcing their dominance in Italian football, while Manchester United continue to search for stability after another transitional season.
Balde is represented by Jorge Mendes, who recently visited Barcelona and maintains a strong relationship with Joan Laporta. Even so, Barcelona are not considering a sale and remain confident the player will rediscover his best form.
The club is also planning with depth in mind. Gerard Martin is contracted until 2028 with a €100m release clause, while there are high expectations for 19-year-old Jofre Torrents.
In parallel, Barcelona continue to monitor the market, including the situation of Alejandro Grimaldo, whose contract with Bayer Leverkusen runs until 2027 and who has been linked with a return to the club in the past.
For now, Balde remains firmly part of Barcelona’s long-term vision, but growing interest from major European clubs ensures his situation will be one to watch in the months ahead.
