Barcelona are gearing up for a very busy summer transfer window, their first since making their long-awaited return to La Liga’s 1:1 rule. A number of positions are likely to be addressed at the end of the season, and one of those is striker.

It is no secret that Barcelona are looking to sign a Robert Lewandowski successor, although the question is when they will do it. The idea is to consider the market this summer, but given that the Polish veteran will be staying until the end of the 2025-26 season at the earliest, there are doubts about whether the Catalan giants will delay the operation by 12 months.

Alexander Isak is considered to be a leading target, although the money being asked for by Newcastle United would make a deal almost impossible for now. A more financially-viable option for Barcelona is his Swedish teammate Viktor Gyokeres, who is reported to be available for €65m, as per Sport.

The report from the Catalan daily also states that Barcelona “have everything in their hands” to sign Gyokeres this summer. While €65m would be a relatively achievable price, they could be able to lower it using two players: Francisco Trincao and Vitor Roque.

Barcelona sold Trincao to Sporting CP 18 months ago, and as part of that agreement, they retained 50% of his rights. The Portuguese giants want to buy this, and a solution could be reached during negotiations for Gyokeres.

Furthermore. Sporting have previously expressed an interest in Roque, who is set to return to Barcelona in the summer after his Real Betis loan spell. A player-plus-cash deal could be sought in another way to bring the price down to a more affordable figure.

It will be interesting to see whether Barcelona go for Gyokeres in the summer. He would be a very good signing, and as a Lewandowski successor, there may not be too many out there as good considering the price and circumstances.
