Barcelona are already planning ahead in the summer transfer window, and according to Fichajes, they have identified a reliable backup option in case their pursuit of Nico Williams hits a roadblock.
The Blaugrana are keeping a close eye on Ademola Lookman, the Atalanta star who could offer both quality and affordability, something the club desperately needs as it continues to balance the books.
Lookman has been one of the standout performers in Serie A since joining Atalanta. His stats speak for themselves—18 goals and 7 assists in 37 appearances this season.
More importantly, he played a key role in helping Atalanta lift the UEFA Europa League trophy, a win that boosted their reputation across Europe.
Interestingly, his performances have not gone unnoticed, and Barça see him as a perfect fit for their frontline.

There is another reason why Lookman could realistically arrive at Barcelona – his current situation in Italy. The 27-year-old forward has had issues with Atalanta’s manager, which led to him asking for a transfer.
That fallout may work in Barcelona’s favour, as it is likely to lower his market value. The transfer fee being discussed is around €35 million, which is much lower than what Athletic Club are asking for Nico Williams.
From a sporting point of view, Lookman ticks several boxes. He is quick, knows how to find the back of the net, and can operate in multiple attacking roles.
With Barcelona needing versatile players due to squad depth and financial restrictions, he would be a smart, cost-effective choice.
While Nico Williams remains the top priority, Barcelona’s board knows better than to rely on just one target. If that deal becomes too complex or too expensive, Lookman is ready in the wings as a strong alternative.
The summer window is still in its early stages, but Barça are already thinking two steps ahead.
