La Liga giants Barcelona early this week sat down for a round of talks with the representatives of RCD Mallorca star Jan Virgili.

This came with a view to discussing the young winger’s future, and a potential return to the Spotify Camp Nou.

Virgili was for his part allowed to depart Barcelona on a permanent basis last summer, linking up with the aforementioned Mallorca in a bid to secure consistent first-team minutes.

The 19-year-old went on to find precisely as much at Son Moix, enjoying a breakout campaign with his new employers.

The Bermellones’ shock relegation to the 2nd division of Spanish football, however, has seen Virgili’s future thrown firmly up in the air.

The attacker is widely expected to be on the move again over the coming weeks, eager not to take a step back in his career by way of a season playing 2nd tier football.

The aforementioned Barcelona, in turn, held negotiations with Virgili’s entourage on Monday.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, during these talks, a whole host of options were discussed. The Blaugrana maintain a buyback clause on their former starlet, which has been slashed owing to Mallorca’s relegation.

A Camp Nou comeback is therefore being mulled over, with a view to Virgili either remaining in Hansi Flick’s squad, being immediately sold on for a profit, or even heading out on loan.

Real Betis, for one, are understood to be eyeing a summer deal for the teenage winger.
