With the January transfer window just around the corner, Barcelona remain undecided as to whether or not they should sign a defender to replace the injured Andreas Christensen.
They are, however, sure of bringing in significant reinforcements for the summer of 2026, as part of yet another mini-overhaul.
It is no secret that Barcelona will hunt for a new centre-back in the summer of 2026, especially if they fail to sign a single player in January. But beyond a centre-back, it appears Barcelona have drawn up a list of priorities for the summer.
According to La Vanguardia, Hansi Flick, along with the Barcelona sporting committee led by sporting director Deco, have identified a list of priorities for the summer of 2026.
The absolute top priority for Barcelona is to sign a centre-back, which is hardly surprising given Christensen’s injury woes and Ronald Araujo’s lack of performances. Not to mention, Barça are still yet to replace Inigo Martinez.

Another problem area Barcelona have identified is the lack of depth in the attacking unit. Although Raphinha and Lamine Yamal have done tremendously well, the club are seeking more options to strengthen the ranks.
Keeping that in mind, Barcelona, in addition to signing a centre-back, have prioritised the signing of a new winger and a new centre-forward.
Marcus Rashford covers both tracks, with the club also leaning towards a €30 million permanent transfer of the English international.
However, it appears the club are looking for more. If Robert Lewandowski ends up leaving, Barcelona would require the services of a talented centre-forward.
A number of names have already been linked with a move to Catalonia, but it remains to be seen whether or not Barcelona are in a position to fund a move for a top-level striker in the summer of 2026.
