Barcelona ‘keeping an eye’ on Villarreal star with a view to summer transfer | OneFootball

The powers that be at Barcelona are continuing to keep a close eye on developments surrounding a leading member of the attacking ranks at La Liga rivals Villarreal.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Álex Baena as the player in question.

Baena, for his part, has long been making a name for himself as one of the standout talents in all of Spanish football.

After dazzling on his way to five goals and a remarkable 18 assists across the length of the 2023/24 campaign, the 23-year-old has since followed up with a further nine direct goal contributions in 17 appearances this season.

And such ongoing excellence on Baena’s part has understandably begun to pique attentions amongst La Liga’s leading clubs.

As per a report from Sport:

‘Barcelona likes him a lot and only the bad economic situation stops a solid offer in the short term.’

Not only that, but Baena himself has made clear on more than one occasion in the past that he would be open to a potential Camp Nou switch.
