It appears that strengthening the full-back positions is strongly on Barcelona’s agenda, and Juventus’ Andrea Cambiaso is the latest name to join the fray.

According to a report from SPORT, Barcelona have already done their homework, and the outcome is that Cambiaso is the kind of modern wide player that suits Hansi Flick’s system

What makes Cambiaso particularly appealing is the fact that he is not just an attacking wing-back who leaves space behind him, nor is he a purely defensive option. 

Over the past couple of seasons at Juventus, he has developed into a well-rounded full-back who can handle both sides of the game without becoming a liability in either phase.

Now a regular starter and part of the Italian national setup, Cambiaso, 26, is entering that stage of his career where a big move feels inevitable, especially with Juventus going through an uncertain period. 

If they fail to secure Champions League football, departures are expected, and players like him will naturally attract interest.

In fact, it is said that Real Madrid are also understood to be exploring left-back options, while Manchester City had previously looked into a deal before stepping back.

The price tag, which is said to be around around €30 million, puts him in that bracket where he is valuable, but not out of reach. 

For Barcelona, that matters, as they are not in a position to gamble, so every target needs to make sense both financially and tactically.

Cambiaso does exactly that.

Nothing is advanced yet, because Barcelona are looking at other profiles too, like Alejandro Grimaldo.

However, the interest is real. And if Barcelona do decide to move, this is the kind of deal that could quietly become one of the smartest signings of the summer.
