Lamine Yamal has been the talk of the town heading into Sunday’s El Clasico, especially after comments on Real Madrid.
In a recent interaction, the Barcelona winger accused Real Madrid of ‘cheating’ – something that didn’t go well with Los Blancos.
Even the Barcelona camp view Yamal’s comment as ‘stupid’ while Real Madrid have found it disrespectful, with Dani Carvajal set to confront the player after the Clasico.
In the wake of controversy surrounding his comment, Yamal has received some much-needed support from Barcelona legend Andreas Iniesta.
Participating in the International Congress on Health Communication (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Iniesta said Yamal’s dig at Real Madrid should be merely seen as a way to add more spice to El Clasico.
“It’s a comment to add a little spice to the Clásico,” said Iniesta. “Beyond the comments or not, it will be a spectacular match. We’ll see what happens. A lot of importance is always given to what is said, especially if it’s before a match like this.

“I’m not very up to date with the news either. Some people will say it’s to warm up the match, and others won’t like it, but what really matters is what happens in those 90 minutes.
“The Clasico goes beyond any comment from any player, president or director. For me, El Clásico is the biggest match there is,” he added.
Iniesta went on to heap praise on Pedri, who has already received a lot of compliments from his teammates, including Marcus Rashford.
“Pedri is Pedri. In our time, well, there are always comparisons. Pedri is making his way, with the talent he has, with the weight he already has at Barça and in the national team.
“For me, he’s the most differential player, in what I understand as a footballer, what a footballer represents. I just want him to continue on this upward trajectory, which will undoubtedly be very good for Barça,” he said.
Finally, the Barcelona legend admitted that he would like to return to Catalonia at some point.
“I’ve never hidden the fact that at some point in my life I would like to return to Barça”, and postponed his possible return for the future,” he concluded.
