Ahead of the curtain raiser between Barcelona and Real Madrid this weekend, the headlines have been dominated by a supposed brawl between Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde inside the Real Madrid dressing room.

Valverde came out worst of the two and has already been ruled out of the Barcelona game after picking an injury.

Real Madrid have fined both players half a million, with Tchouameni later admitting that the incident was simply unacceptable.

Pique trolls Casillas amid Real Madrid chaos

Now, in the midst of this PR mess for Real Madrid, former Barcelona defender Gerard Pique could not resist having a dig at his old rivals, responding to a post from former Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas.

Casillas had taken to X to share his thoughts on the managerial situation at Real Madrid, stating that Xabi Alonso remained his preferred choice for the job.

“For me the ideal coach Real Madrid had was Xabi Alonso, he was the perfect coach, always giving him continuity and confidence,” he wrote (h/t Mundo Deportivo).

Pique responded a couple of hours later with a single line. “And who do you think won the fight?”

This is a trademark move by Pique, who is known for openly mocking Real Madrid and often taking a dig at former players, including former Spain colleagues.

Pique, though, maintains an excellent relationship with Casillas as the two are often involved in similar events.

Casillas, for his part, has not responded to Pique’s response just yet. It will be interesting to see what the former Real Madrid goalkeeper comes up with, should he later decide to respond to Pique’s message.
