The board at La Liga giants Barcelona do not intend to offer a contract renewal to veteran goalscorer Robert Lewandowski ahead of next summer.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who have this weekend provided an insight into the situation.

Frontman Lewandowski, for his part, is due to see his contract terms with Barcelona expire in 2026.

Despite his advancing years – the Pole recently turned 37 – it had been hinted by some outlets that he could at this point be offered a one-year renewal.

The former Bayern Munich man, after all, is fresh off a 42-goal campaign in 2024/25.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the Spanish media late this week is anything to go by, then an extension already appears to have been all but ruled out.

As per a report from Sport:

‘The idea, both from the player and Barça, is to end the relationship between the two on June 30, 2026.’
