Marc Casado was one of the players who were linked with a shock move away from Barcelona last summer.
But despite persistent speculation, the midfielder chose to remain at Barça and fight for his place in the starting eleven.
However, as we approach the second half of the season, Casado has fallen behind Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Marc Bernal and even Eric Garcia in the pecking order. He has failed to even play 1,000 minutes of football so far this term.
Amid the lack of game time, a recent report from MARCA suggests that Casado has found himself on the radar of Atletico Madrid.
The Spanish giants are looking for reinforcements in the midfield unit, and Casado has emerged as an ideal target due to his ball circulation and technical abilities.

Casado has already shown what he can do at Barcelona, notably racking up 60 competitive appearances for the club since making his breakthrough last season.
But with regular first-team action seemingly blocked, Casado is considering a change of scenery, which could mean he is exploring options away from the club.
The report adds that Atletico Madrid have identified Joao Games as their desired target in the midfield unit. But if they fail to reach an agreement with the Wolverhampton Wanderers star cannot be reached, the club will consider a move for Casado.
Barcelona, for their part, are not expected to stand in Casado’s way if he decides to leave the club in the coming summer.
It must be noted that Casado’s sale could be an excellent avenue for Barcelona to bring in fresh funds for the summer, which in turn, could allow them to sign new players in the transfer market.
