Earlier in the season, it was believed that Gavi was finally set for a normal season after recovering from a long injury layoff.
However, it appears the midfielder is once again facing complications with his knee and could be staring at a longer spell on the sidelines.
According to Diario SPORT, Barcelona are facing fresh worries over the fitness of Gavi, as the midfielder is set to undergo a key examination on Monday to determine the state of his right knee.
The 20-year-old had only recently returned to action after missing 11 months due to surgery on the cruciate ligament of the same knee.
While the ligament itself is reportedly in perfect condition, Gavi has been experiencing discomfort for several weeks, which has now raised red flags within the club.
The follow-up test will seek to find the exact cause of the pain that has sidelined the midfielder again and already ruled him out of Barcelona’s upcoming clash against Valencia.

One possibility being considered is to extend the conservative treatment he has been receiving, giving the knee more time to recover.
Another option, though not ruled out, is an arthroscopy to clean up the affected area – a procedure that would not impact the cruciate ligament directly but could help ease his discomfort.
Gavi’s start to the season has been far from smooth. He came off the bench in the first two La Liga matchdays, but was unavailable against Rayo Vallecano after the discomfort flared up again.
Hansi Flick is said to be closely monitoring his recovery, with the German coach holding a special connection with the young star.
The situation is all the more frustrating given the careful manner in which Barcelona handled his recovery last season.
The club had been cautious not to rush his return, making this setback an unexpected blow. Tomorrow’s results will be decisive in plotting the next steps for one of Barça’s most important midfielders.
