Harry Kane is one of the forwards Barcelona are interested in as they get set to enter the market to sign a goalscorer in 2026.

The La Liga champions have gathered information about the 32-year-old Bayern Munich superstar’s situation, but have not made any further moves at this point.

Kane has €65 million release clause in his contract with the German champions, and he has a month to inform the club if he wishes to activate this clause for the summer.

As reported earlier this week, Kane has no plans to do so, with his plan being to continue with Bayern Munich.

Barcelona not throwing in the towel

However, according to SPORT, Barcelona have not given up on their pursuit of Kane and are closely monitoring his situation.

Kane is not planning to activate his release clause at this point because he feels comfortable at Bayern and believes a strong project has been built to compete for all titles.

At the same time, he is waiting for a gesture from the Bavarian giants in the form of a renewal offer. His contract expires in 2027, and the club have not made a move yet, even as the player seeks at least a two-year extension.

It is true that Kane currently prioritises staying at Bayern, but it is also true that his entourage has explored possible future options. One of these enquiries involved Barça.

As per the report, the key issue is the length of the contract. Kane is 32 years old and wants long-term stability, so Bayern would need to offer him at least two more years, taking him to 2029. This is far from guaranteed.

Barça are watching events closely and have not yet decided on their preferred candidate to occupy the No. 9 position from next season. If Kane does renew, his name will be removed from the list, and the club will work on other options.

Julian Alvarez is the favourite, but he would cost at least €150 million – a price Barça consider too high.
