FC Barcelona have not been in the best financial shape in recent years, with the COVID-19 pandemic and years of mismanagement almost driving the club into the mud. The situation has improved since.

Although not completely out of the woods, Barcelona do seem to be picking themselves up. A report a few days ago outlined how the club is just €14m away from returning to the 1:1 rule, which would improve their standing in the transfer market.

Now, according to the latest Deloitte Football Money League report, as cited by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have climbed several places to rank 2nd among the 20 highest revenue-generating men’s football clubs globally for the 2024/25 season, surpassing PSG and sitting just behind Real Madrid.

Los Blancos continue to lead the Football Money League table, with revenue of €1.161 billion generated during the 2024/25 season. Barcelona, who finished sixth last year, are now second, with nearly €1 billion in revenue (€974m).

Bayern Munich are third with more than €860 million. For the first time in a while, PSG is the only French club in the top-20, with the television rights issues in France affecting clubs such as Olympique Marseille and Lyon.

This list clearly indicates that, despite their financial problems, the Catalan club remains a revenue-generating machine and now finds itself in the world’s top two. This is a definite improvement.

However, this does not necessarily translate into sporting sustainability, and it remains to be seen how Barcelona perform on that front in the coming months ahead.
