Barcelona are planning to revive talks for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic in their search for Robert Lewandowski’s successor (h/t Mundo Deportivo).
Lewandowski is in the final year of his contract, and he could leave at the end of the season.
The 37-year-old’s recurring injury problems have prompted Barca to decide against extending his deal and find a quality long-term replacement to lead the attack.
Vlahovic has emerged as a strong candidate for the striker position at the Catalan club. Sporting director Deco contacted the Serbian’s agent Darko Ristic this summer.
The 25-year-old presents an ideal market opportunity for Barca as his contract expires next summer.
The former Fiorentina star faced a tumultuous few months earlier in the summer transfer window as the Old Lady tried to sell him to generate considerable funds.
However, with no suitors coming forward to meet his hefty wages, Vlahovic stayed in Turin.
With the Bianconeri investing in Jonathan David and Lois Openda, Vlahovic’s position was under threat, but he has turned things around with his excellent performances.
The Serbian international has netted four goals and an assist this season despite starting in only two games.
However, Juve’s stance hasn’t changed as they are still willing to offload him at the end of the season to trim their wage bill.
Bayern Munich have also been credited with an interest in Vlahovic, but their priority is renewing Harry Kane’s contract.
Barca manager Hansi Flick believes Ferran Torres can replace Lewandowski. Julian Alvarez, Karl Etta Eyong and Fisnik Asllani are other potential targets.
