FC Barcelona’s pursuit of Julian Alvarez has entered a period of apparent calm, but negotiations remain very much alive behind the scenes.
The Argentine has already made his intentions clear by expressing his willingness to leave Atletico Madrid this summer.
Meanwhile, Barça president Joan Laporta has deliberately avoided fueling speculation in recent public appearances so as not to complicate the club’s position, although he did confirm that the club had made an offer and that it remains on the table.
All parties have agreed to postpone any major developments until after the World Cup, when Barcelona intend to launch what they see as a near-decisive move for the Argentine striker.
Now, according to SPORT, Barcelona intend to submit an offer worth approximately €130 million after the World Cup.

The Blaugrana view that figure as the maximum they can responsibly commit while also believing it reflects both the player’s value and Atlético Madrid’s financial expectations.
The club has no intention of increasing the proposal to €150 million – a figure that Real Madrid had offered for Alvarez last month.
From Barcelona’s perspective, Atletico Madrid will simply have to decide whether to accept the offer or reject it.
The report further states that Barcelona are deeply unhappy with Mateu Alemany, Atletico Madrid’s sporting director, over how the club’s opening proposal was handled.
The report claims Alemany did not immediately present Barcelona’s offer to Atletico president Enrique Cerezo or CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marín, creating frustration within the Catalan club.
To avoid similar issues moving forward, Laporta has decided to take personal charge of negotiations and establish a direct line of communication with Cerezo.
The two presidents have since agreed to remain in contact regarding a deal that both clubs acknowledge is complicated but still very much alive, despite Atletico’s firm public stance.

The decision to delay negotiations until after the World Cup is also part of Barcelona’s strategic approach.
Club officials believe Atletico Madrid are highly unlikely to approve the departure of one of their biggest stars before securing a top-class replacement.
For that reason, Barcelona have deliberately given the Rojiblancos time to work in the transfer market over the coming weeks, something Laporta himself hinted at publicly.
The expectation is that, once the World Cup concludes, circumstances will be more favorable for completing the transfer.
Barcelona’s confidence ultimately rests on the player’s own wishes. Club officials remain convinced that Alvarez sees Hansi Flick’s sporting project as his preferred destination.
Their belief is that, if the Argentine international leaves Atlético Madrid this summer, his priority is clear: he wants to play for Barcelona.
