Barcelona are prepared to sell Ferran Torres this summer to avoid making an additional payment to Manchester City, per The Athletic

The 26-year-old joined the La Liga club in January 2022 for an initial €55 million fee plus €10m in add-ons.

Barcelona have already paid City €10m in add-ons, but they would have to fork out a further €8m if Torres extends his contract.

The Blaugrana are reportedly open to selling the striker this summer, as they don’t want to risk losing him for nothing next year.

Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with an interest, but they are yet to make a formal approach.

Torres endured a mixed 2025-26 season. He scored 21 goals from 49 appearances, helping Barca retain the La Liga crown and win the Supercopa de Espana.

But he also went 14 games without scoring between late January and mid-April.

If Torres were to leave this summer, Barcelona would be without their two main strikers of last season.

Robert Lewandowski has already left at the end of his contract, and has since joined Major League Soccer club Chicago Fire.

The Spanish giants have signed Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United in an €80m deal, while they are also close to signing Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi.

However, Barcelona are still chasing a move for Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez as their top target for the Number nine spot.
