According to a recent report from SPORT, Barcelona’s elections are now pointing towards the month of March, with the final date expected to be confirmed very soon.
The first board meeting of 2026 for FC Barcelona is scheduled for next week, on the 22nd, and it is during this meeting that the current board of directors could settle on the official election date.
It is said that under club statutes, the presidential elections must be held between March 15 and June 15.
However, all indications suggest that Joan Laporta wants the process completed as early as possible.
The idea is to avoid distractions later in the season, especially while Hansi Flick’s side remain in contention for all three major titles.
At this stage, the most likely dates under consideration are March 15 or March 22.
This is because Barça’s statutes recommend that elections take place on a home match day at the Spotify Camp Nou, as this tends to boost member participation.
Conveniently for the club, Barcelona are scheduled to play at home on both of those weekends.

There are, however, some logistical doubts surrounding March 15.
The second leg of the Champions League round of 16 will be played the following week, and there is a possibility that Barcelona could be required to play their league fixture on Saturday, March 14.
March 22, on the other hand, appears cleaner from a scheduling perspective.
Barcelona are due to face Rayo Vallecano that weekend, and the following week is an international break.
That gap would give the club breathing room after the vote, making March 22 an increasingly strong candidate.
Notably, once the board officially announces the election date, the formal call for elections will follow, along with the resignation of Laporta and any board members standing for re-election.
