Paris Saint-Germain have plenty of midfield talent, but they’re definitely lacking in size. Fabian Ruiz stands out as the tallest at 6-foot-2 (1.89m), and there’s a clear drop-off after that.

Senny Mayulu brings some height at 6 feet (1.83m), but beyond the 18-year-old, the depth isn’t quite there. That could lead PSG to prioritize a taller midfielder in the summer—someone who can slot into Luis Enrique’s system without disrupting the style of play.

Another option on the table: adding a veteran presence to complement the young core PSG have built in recent windows.

With that in mind, Arsenal insider Charles Watts recently noted that the Gunners haven’t opened contract talks with Thomas Partey, whose deal expires this summer. Barcelona, Juventus, and PSG are reportedly all monitoring the situation closely.

What’s the latest on Thomas Partey?

TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey reports that while Arsenal still rate Thomas Partey highly, the financial demands of a new contract could make an extension difficult.

Arsenal are expected to be active in the summer transfer window, and committing to a big-money deal for Partey—who’s no longer seen as a guaranteed starter—doesn’t seem to be in the plans right now.

Partey is said to be considering a move back to LaLiga, with Barcelona emerging as his preferred option. His current contract runs out at the end of the season, and according to Mundo Deportivo, the Spanish club have shown interest.

Barcelona see Partey as a potential bargain due to his contract situation, but a deal isn’t simple. With Marc Casadó, Marc Bernal and Frenkie de Jong already in similar roles, there isn’t an obvious need in the squad right now.
