With only two days left until the start of preseason training, FC Barcelona are finalizing their plans for the remaining part of the summer. The main highlight for the Catalan club during this preseason is the training camp that they are set to hold in England for the duration of a week. The Blaugrana side is also set to play two friendlies during this trip.
Both of these friendlies are going to be played against Championship teams. The first one will take place on 31 July, against Birmingham City. The opposition for the second friendly is yet to be confirmed, but a recent report suggested that it will be played against Preston North End on 3rd August.
A friendly against Europa CF is set to take place at the Barcelona’s facilities before the trip to England, while after the end of the training camp in the United Kingdom, the Catalan side will participate in a triangular competition with Udinese and Nottingham Forest. Some more friendlies can take place after that, and the preseason would end with the Joan Gamper Trophy game.
This last game is scheduled to take place on 19th August at Camp Nou, and as Mundo Deportivo has reported, the participants for this game have also been confirmed. This year, Barcelona would face the Egyptian side Al-Ahly, and an agreement for this purpose has already been reached.
This is definitely a strong choice of opponent, as Al-Ahly are inarguably the biggest club in Egypt, and this game can further enhance the popularity of the Blaugrana club in the Arab country. Furthermore, this is the same club from which the Catalans recently signed the young forward Hamza Abdelkarim, who also represented the Egyptian national team in the World Cup till its elimination in the Round of 16.
Hopefully, Barcelona and Al-Ahly would put on a good show for the fans at Spotify Camp Nou to enjoy before the start of the 2026-27 season.
