After securing agreements to sign Hamza Abdelkarim and Patricio Pacifico, Barcelona are now all set to complete the capture of another exciting young talent.
Indeed, according to Carlos Monfort of SPORT, Barcelona have reached a full agreement for the signing of Juwensley Onstein from Genk.
The 18-year-old Dutch defensive prospect has already undergone a medical examination in Barcelona this morning and will sign his contract with the Blaugrana shortly.
The plan is for the player to sign his contract tomorrow or the day after at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, at which point he will officially become a member of the reserve team, Barça Atletic.
The Catalans want Onstein to join the group as soon as possible and begin training normally once the signing and internal presentation are completed.
As per the report, Onstein had several attractive offers on the table, but from the outset, he was clear that his priority was Barcelona.
The opportunity to develop within the Blaugrana structure and the sporting project were decisive factors in his decision to accept the offer without hesitation.
Barça, for their part, see him as a profile with room for growth and the ability to adapt to their style of play. He will begin his spell with Barça Atletic with the clear objective of establishing himself under Juliano Belletti, with a view to potentially earning call-ups from Hansi Flick.
This signing fits in with the scouting policy implemented following the arrival of Joao Amaral as head of the department.
Since his appointment, Barcelona have reinforced a strategy based on identifying talent abroad before major clubs with greater financial power move in.
The objective is clear: to anticipate, to sign players with potential, and to achieve both sporting and economic returns in the future.
