Barcelona have received a diagnosis on Fermin Lopez’s injury, after the 22-year-old finished their clash with Getafe with pain in his hamstring. There were concerns that he could be ruled out long-term, after leaving the pitch in tears at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.
Manager Hansi Flick told the press that they would have to wait until the results were in on Monday to find out about Lopez’s injury, but the noises coming out of the Barcelona dressing room were not hopeful for him.
The Spain international has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in his hip, as announced by Barcelona on Monday. The positive news is that it is not a long-term injury, with MD explaining that he will be out for around three weeks, but should be back after the October international break.

However he has been ruled out of their headline Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain next week. Barcelona will be without one of their star performers this season against Real Oviedo (A), Real Sociedad (H), PSG (H) and Sevilla (A). It does mean that Lopez could be back in contention for El Clasico against Real Madrid at the end of October.
It does give Dani Olmo an opportunity to get a run of games under his belt. One of the inquests at Barcelona in the early weeks of the season has been the form of Olmo, who has struggled to hit the heights. After scoring against Getafe on Sunday night, Olmo did begin to look more assured, and will now be more comfortable knowing that he likely has a run of games to get back to his best with less fear of being dropped. Lopez has been pushing hard for a starting spot in 2025.
