According to a report from RECORD, Benfica are open to selling highly-rated winger Andreas Schjelderup, with Barcelona closely monitoring the situation as they look to strengthen their attack.

The 21-year-old Norwegian has emerged as a viable option for Barcelona, particularly as doubts grow around the long-term feasibility of the Marcus Rashford deal. 

With financial constraints still affecting the club’s strategy, the focus has shifted towards younger, more affordable profiles and Schjelderup fits that vision perfectly.

A low-cost alternative

From a financial standpoint, the deal appears realistic. Although the player has a release clause set at €100 million, Benfica are willing to negotiate a transfer in the region of €20 million. 

This significantly lower figure makes the operation far more attractive for Barcelona, especially given their ongoing efforts to balance competitiveness with sustainability.

However, the structure of the deal is not entirely straightforward, as Schjelderup’s former club, Nordsjaelland, are entitled to 20% of any future transfer fee, which could influence Benfica’s final demands and negotiation stance.

Beyond the numbers, there is also an important factor working in Barcelona’s favour.

Schjelderup is represented by Rafaela Pimenta, an agent who shares a strong professional connection with club president Joan Laporta. 

She has previously presented the winger as a potential signing and has now revived those discussions, awaiting a final decision from Barcelona’s sporting management.

Internally, the club’s recruitment team continues to assess multiple options for the left-wing position. 

Alongside Schjelderup, names like Victor Munoz are also being considered.

However, what makes Schjelderup particularly appealing is not just his price tag, but his potential. 

Despite his young age, he has already shown glimpses of quality, contributing six goals and three assists this season. 

With Rashford’s situation still unresolved, Schjelderup’s name continues to gain traction as a serious alternative.
