While the possibility of new signings for the Barcelona first-team squad in the ongoing January transfer window seems unlikely, the club are looking for reinforcements for the reserve team.

Indeed, with Barça Atletic languishing in the 13th position in the RFEF Primera Division, the Catalans are hoping to strengthen the squad this month so as to push further up the standings and avoid getting dragged into the relegation muddle.

Alan Godoy wanted, but Real Madrid also in the race

As such, journalist Manu Amor reports that Barcelona are looking at the prospect of signing Alan Godoy from CD Eldense but face stiff competition from Real Madrid.

Godoy, 21, is looking for a way out from the La Liga 2 outfit this month having found regular minutes hard to come by. After all, most of his 13 appearances this term have come from the bench.

The Spanish forward’s situation has caught the attention of Barcelona, who are looking to bolster the Barça Atletic frontline while Real Madrid are also looking to add more firepower to the Castilla squad, who are facing the threat of relegation.

As per the report, both Barça and Real Madrid have made contact with Godoy’s agents and have tabled enticing proposals.

Optimism was said to be higher in the Spanish capital club, who are ready to pay a transfer fee to sign the player. But the Blaugrana’s entry into the picture can change things.

As mentioned earlier, Godoy is being pursued by both the La Liga giants to reinforce their respective reserve teams in the RFEF Primera Division.

Even though other clubs like Nastic and Hercules CF are also interested, Godoy is leaning towards either Real Madrid or Barcelona, with a decision expected to be made in the coming days.
