There is no questioning the fact that FC Barcelona would ideally love to reinforce their squad. From the goalkeeper position all the way up to the centre-forward, any top club would love to have exceptional depth. However, Barcelona have some limits that they must operate within.
For that reason, the Catalan giants have had to pick out their targets quite selectively and pursue them in a certain order. As of right now, the first objective was to complete the signing of Spanish goalkeeper Joan Garcia, and that has already been done by the club.
Since then, the focus has shifted towards the arrival of a new left-winger, and Nico Williams seems to be the likely choice for that. The payment of his release clause is the next step, and various reports believe that it will be happening sooner rather than later.

Beyond that, however, Barcelona would love to incorporate a new full-back into their team as well. According to SPORT, moreover, a name that La Blaugrana remain interested in is that of Denzel Dumfries, a 29-year-old Dutch full-back who currently plays for Serie A side Inter Milan.
Reportedly, Hansi Flick was impressed by him when Barcelona faced Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League last season. His profile as a player who adds both strength and speed to the team is something that the German coach admired, and he has been wanting a profile like that for his team.
Fortunately, he would not be too expensive of an acquisition if the Catalan club can move quickly. As revealed by Fabrizio Romano, the player currently has an active release clause of €25 million, but it will only remain active and valid until mid-July.
For now, the priority would be to first sort out the Nico Williams operation, but Barcelona could then look towards potentially signing a new right-back and it might just be Dumfries who gets targeted. Fortunately, an imminent return to the 1:1 rule would greatly help Barcelona out in this regard.
