Members of the staff at La Liga champions Barcelona are in disagreement when it comes to the best course of treatment for sidelined midfielder Gavi.
That’s according to Blaugrana insider Javier Miguel of Diario AS, who has on Friday provided an insight into the situation.
Gavi, for his part, is of course condemned to the treatment table at present.
This comes after the Spanish international picked up a knee injury during training in Catalunya’s capital late last month.
With the issue having come in the same knee in which Gavi previously tore his ACL, widespread concern quickly set in.
And as things stand, disagreement remains when it comes to the best route forward for the 21-year-old.
As per a report from AS:
‘There is an internal debate surrounding the Andalusian midfielder. Some are in favour of the player undergoing surgery immediately to alleviate the discomfort and leave the area in perfect condition.’
In the case of undergoing such a procedure, Gavi would be expected to miss between one and a half and two months of action.
Others behind the scenes at the Camp Nou, on the other hand, are in favour of continued conservative treatment.
This comes amid concerns surrounding potential instability in the same knee which the youngster previously had repaired.
For the time being, more routine treatment looks likely to continue.
But in the case of his pain persisting, Gavi could well undergo an ‘arthroscopic meniscectomy’.
