Barcelona are entered the election phase where Joan Laporta is no longer the club’s president, having resigned in order to stand for re-election.

In his stead, vice-president Rafa Yuste is the acting president of Barcelona. Speaking ahead of the club’s vital match against Atletico Madrid, Yuste offered his thoughts on multiple topics, including Real Madrid’s recent agreement with UEFA and EFC.

Rafa Yuste on Real Madrid’s deal with UEFA

When asked about Real Madrid’s peace agreement with the footballing body, Rafa Yuste welcomed the move, calling it an act of common sense.

But before that, he pointed out that Barcelona were first in opting out of the Super League.

“We distanced ourselves from the Super League days ago. As president, I’m glad that common sense prevailed, and that’s what makes things happen,” he said (h/t Mundo Deportivo).

Barcelona’s exit from the Super League project was indeed a huge catalyst in ultimately forcing Real Madrid to withdraw, as it left Los Blancos with no real supporters.

However, it did dampen the relationship between the two great rivals, who do not see eye-to-eye anymore.

Yuste, though, claimed that Barcelona have a healthy relationship with every organisation. When asked whether or not this was a defeat for Florentino Perez, he added that Barcelona had done its homework.

“A defeat for Florentino? Barça did its homework. We have a very good relationship with all the organisations. We always have, always exchanging opinions to be more constructive and look after the interests of our club,” he concluded.

Yuste is not the only personality to welcome Real Madrid’s decision to reach an agreement with UEFA, as former player Raphael Varane also endorsed the move.
