A member of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has admitted that he sees it as unlikely that he will play any part in the club’s upcoming showdown with arch rivals Real Madrid.
The player in question? Wojciech Szczęsny.
Goalkeeper Szczęsny has of course found himself cast back into a prominent role in Hansi Flick’s squad over recent weeks.
As much comes after an injury suffered by summer signing Joan García culminated in the Pole returning to starting duties.
Szczęsny is expected to continue between the posts in Catalunya’s capital following the October international break, at least for Barcelona’s first few outings.
As alluded to above, though, one fixture which the former Arsenal and Juventus man is not planning on featuring in is El Clásico.
Drawn on his prospects for the Blaugrana’s clash with Real Madrid on October 26th during an interview with Polish outlet WP Sportowe Fakty on Wednesday, Szczęsny admitted:
“I wish him (Joan) a speedy recovery and I don’t count on playing in the Clásico.”
