Barcelona star has lost 9kg of weight | OneFootball

A leading member of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has undergone nothing short of a remarkable body transformation this season.

That’s according to Polish outlet Meczyki, who point towards Wojciech Szczęsny as the player in question.

Goalkeeper Szczęsny of course put pen to paper on terms with Barcelona late in 2024, following the long-term injury suffered by Blaugrana no.1 Marc-André ter Stegen.

And the 34-year-old wasted little time in making his presence felt, usurping Iñaki Peña as the new first-choice between the posts in Hansi Flick’s squad, en route to playing a central role in the club’s domestic treble.

Szczęsny stepped out of retirement to link up with his new club, after being released by Juventus last summer.

In turn, it should not come as a major surprise to learn of the shot-stopper having lost some weight over the course of the 2024/25 campaign.

What will come as a surprise, though, are the details of the alleged extent of Szczęsny’s weight drop.

As per Polish journalist Mateusz Święcicki, speaking to the aforementioned Meczyki:

”This is another example of how Barcelona can rekindle the fire of play among experienced players. Spanish journalists have noted Wojtek’s transformation – he has reportedly lost 9 kg. I have never seen him in such physical shape.”
