A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona is likely to step back into the club’s backline in the club’s European season opener.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Ronald Araújo as the player in question.
Stopper Araújo was for his part condemned to the bench for the 2nd outing in succession this past weekend.
This came as Hansi Flick opted for a pairing of Pau Cubarsí and Eric García to face Valencia.
As alluded to above, though, on Thursday night, when Barca open their Champions League campaign against Newcastle United, Araújo could well be favoured once more.
According to Sport, the Uruguayan is likely to be handed a specific task at St. James’ Park.
This will come in the form of keeping tabs on towering Newcastle summer signing Nick Woltemade.
The summer arrival on Tyneside stands at a hefty 6ft 6in tall, with Araújo, though shorter, considered the best option to challenge Woltemade.
