Barcelona star opens up on being rejected by Real Madrid | OneFootball

Barcelona star Pedri has this week provided a fresh insight into his past with the Blaugrana’s most bitter rivals, Real Madrid.

Pedri is for his part of course now widely considered to be one of world football’s very best in his role.

Since putting his long-standing fitness woes behind him last season, the 22-year-old has set about reminding fans the world over of his near unrivalled talents in the middle of the park.

Barcelona are the beneficiaries of as much, with Pedri’s excellence having proven pivotal in the club clinching a domestic treble in 2024/25.

Had things played out a little differently, though, such stellar exploits could instead have been coming in the colours of Spanish football’s other leading club.

Speaking during an interview with Onda Cero, as cited by Marca, this week, Pedri was asked about a trial period he undertook with none other than Real Madrid.

And the former Las Palmas talent went on to admit:

“When I did my trials at Real Madrid, it was strange; they told me I did not meet their level, so I went back home.”
