Barcelona star Pedri responds to Paul Scholes praise | OneFootball

Barcelona star Pedri has this week revealed his appreciation for the kind recent words laid out by Manchester United icon Paul Scholes regarding his talents.

Englishman Scholes, for those not aware, turned heads across social media earlier this month.

This came upon the ex-midfielder taking to his official Instagram account, to heap praise on the aforementioned Pedri.

After the latter lit up St. James’ Park en route to Barcelona’s Champions League opening day victory over Newcastle United, Scholes unveiled a photo of the 22-year-old, accompanied by the caption:

‘My new favourite footballer’

Speaking during a press conference ahead of his side’s upcoming continental meeting with Paris Saint-Germain, the subject of this praise was in turn put to Pedri himself.

And the Spanish international’s response was as follows:

“Paul Scholes said I’m a mix of Xavi and Iniesta? When a football legend praises you or compares you to great players I’ve always admired since I was a child, it’s something beautiful. Of course, I take it as motivation. I know the comparison with Xavi or Andrés is difficult, because the level they showed for so many years was truly amazing.”
