Barcelona star Iñaki Peña is on the verge of bringing a permanent close to his time in the club’s colours.

This comes amid the understanding that the goalkeeper is all set to put pen to paper on terms with Greek heavyweights Panathinaikos.

Shot-stopper Peña is for his part fresh off a season out on loan away from the Spotify Camp Nou.

After it was made clear to the 27-year-old that he was not in the plans of Barcelona boss Hansi Flick, Peña went on to link up with La Liga rivals Elche on a 12-month loan.

And across an ensuing 16 appearances in Spain’s top-flight, the former La Roja youth international evidently did enough to impress those in the boardroom at the aforementioned Panathinaikos.

As per a report from journalist Juli Claramunt of Jijantes:

‘Iñaki Peña, one step away from being transferred to Panathinaikos FC. The goalkeeper wanted to close his future as soon as possible and will leave less than €3m in the coffers of Barça.’
