Barcelona star Anthony Gordon is primed for a return to starting duties on the international front in the early hours of Monday.
This comes amid the understanding that the summer arrival at the Spotify Camp Nou has been selected ahead of Marcus Rashford for England’s showdown with Mexico.
The Three Lions are of course set to kick their World Cup campaign back into gear in mere hours’ time. After sending DR Congo packing in the competition’s Round-of-32, a clash with host nation Mexico lies in wait for the 1966 winners.
En route to their comeback downing of DR Congo, the aforementioned Anthony Gordon played a starring role for England, laying on the assists for both of Harry Kane’s goals.
And as alluded to above, these exploits look set to be rewarded on Monday morning.
As per a report from reliable journalist David Ornstein of The Athletic, the newly-signed Barcelona man will replace ex-Blaugrana star Marcus Rashford in England’s XI to take on Mexico.
