Barcelona intend to raise money this summer by parting ways with several unwanted players, but counted-upon stars could also depart. This is currently the case with Ferran Torres, who is attracting interest from back-to-back European champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Torres, who has scored 40 goals across his last two seasons in Catalonia, only has a year remaining on his current contract, and this has alerted PSG to his situation. Luis Enrique is a big fan of the versatile forward, and there is a belief that he can be brought to Paris for an affordable price.
Torres has been focused on featuring for Spain at the ongoing World Cup, which is why there hasn’t been much movement in recent weeks. However, Cadena SER have reported that he intends to sign a new contract this summer, and in the process, he would notify PSG that he has no desire to leave the Spotify Camp Nou.
The departure of Robert Lewandowski has paved the way for Torres to be a nailed starter for Barcelona, although that will depend on whether a star-studded replacement is signed before the end of the summer – which is the aim. Nevertheless, the 26-year-old is counted upon heavily by Hansi Flick, who wants to keep him around for years to come.

Torres has been a pantomime figure at times over the course of the last few years, but since Flick’s arrival, he has stepped up his performance levels. It’s a no-brainer for the club to tie him down to a new contract, given how effective he has been for the most part over the previous two seasons in particular.
Torres’ situation will be address after the World Cup, so until then, there’s unlikely to be much movement. However, when the time comes, he should renew.
