In an official statement, Barça said: "The club considers that, across both legs of the tie, several refereeing decisions were made that did not comply with the Laws of the Game, resulting from an incorrect application of the regulations and a lack of appropriate intervention by the VAR system in incidents of clear significance."

Both legs of the 3-2 exit to their La Liga rivals saw Hansi Flick's side have a centre-back sent off for a perceived last man foul/denial of a goalscoring opportunity.

Pau Cubarsí was shown red at the Nou Camp with the score at 0-0 in an eventual 2-0 win for Atlético, while perhaps more controversially, Eric García was dismissed after a VAR check at the Metropolitano with Barça chasing an equaliser on aggregate.

Barcelona have said the decisions caused 'significant sporting and financial harm to the club.'
