La Liga giants Barcelona have seen their hopes of securing a victory in the club’s Champions League opener afforded a double boost.
This comes by way of the latest injury news stemming from the first-team ranks at Newcastle United.
Barcelona are primed to kick their European campaign for the season into gear next week.
As much will come by way of a trip to St. James’ Park, to face the aforementioned Newcastle.
Just days out from the fixture, though, the Magpies are being forced to deal with mounting personnel problems.
Speaking during a press conference on Friday, Eddie Howe confirmed that summer signing Jacob Ramsey has been ruled out long-term.
And the former Aston Villa star could be joined in missing next week’s Barcelona showdown by another of Newcastle’s recent recruits.
Drawn on Yoane Wissa’s status after the DR Congo frontman picked up an injury whilst on international duty, Howe admitted:
“I don’t know if he’ll be ready for the game against Barcelona. He’s going to go away for tests and maybe a specialist. I can’t tell you any more.”
